It gives the impression in the photo of being larger than it is. 6.5" from base to top of ring means that the bride and groom themselves are smaller. I think it is very elegant and was personally quite glad that it wasn't as large as it looked. The finish is beautiful, the couple's embrace is sweet and romantic. It came beautifully packaged by Hallmark and is very well protected. It comes in two pieces, the couple as one and the base and ring as the other. There is a "knob" in the porcelain (on top of the base) that fits into a hole on the underside of the couple. Seems to be very secure when assembled, it's not balanced precariously or anything. I personally hand paint these type of things to match the wedding when I use them (have done a few wedding's flowers including my own) and generally add a back drop of flowers, but this one is one that can easily be left the elegant white and doesn't need any embellishment.
